Nanoo Nanoo

I used to love Mork and Mindy.

Though I forgot about their entire existence until I just went to title this post NaNoWriMo and instead 'Nanoo Nanoo' came from my subconsious and then pushed me towards a Google Image Search where I found them so quickly and easily (I do heart you, Modern Age).

So, allow me to cut out the middle man for you and just paste some magic here:

Ah.
Now.

Oh yeah, so, I'm going to do NaNoWriMo this year, and my name for there is they.fall.back in case anyone wants to 'add me' - if that's how things are done. I sorta tried this this last year and got very close to nowhere with it. But I think I'm ready this year- despite not having much success just typing the word a few minutes ago.

I've joined a group on Andrea-a-cat-of-impossible-colour's blog. Andrew wrote her novel during NaNoWriMo 2008 and now has a book deal with Random House for it... inspiring stuff.

So, anyone reading now going to do Nano? Tell me who you are... say Nanoo Nanoo...

Mork and Mindy was great. Robin Williams at his manic best was a joy to behold.

Good luck with the NaNoWriMo. The book deal is an encouraging story. I’ve thought about doing with my “No” being a novella instead of novel. Cheating, yes, but I’m always changing the rules to my benefit.

I think that's fine, Christian (like I'm the judge)- I've heard some people say they're going to write 50,000 words of short stories. I'm very tempted by that, but I want to try and push a novel from my insides to my out.

Glad you brought up the image, I thought I was the only one (old enough) to think about Mork every time I saw "NaNo."

Manic, yes. That is the one word for Mr. Williams, isn't it?

Best of everything in your NaNo efforts, I hope the stars align and you find that much crisis-free time to write. I'm going to sit this one out (I've never done it) but only because circumstances led me to knock out a lot of words in a very short period of time recently, as a part of a small wager: now I want to finish that first draft, and I've seen that I can "do it," whatever that is worth to me.

Did that make sense?

Anyway, +1 on changing the rules to one's benefit, and I enjoyed this post.

Yep, rules are made to be broken (except in short story competitions) and Nonoo nonoo, I'm not going to be doing the nano. I'd love to but have too many other projects on the go and I know I can't cope with pressure - not too much anyway.
Good luck with your NaNo effort. Oh, I don't think my no is a definite!
And I'll never forget Mork and Mindy.

Hey B, well sounds like you've already done your own NaNo in getting all those words out - good luck with finishing your draft and thank you for wishing me 'crisis-free time', I won't be having the best start seeing as Nov 1st is my boyfriend's 30th birthday. Tut. Think I'll need to get a head start then, another rule-bend.

Hi Lynne, nice use of 'Nonoo Nonoo'. I'm pleased Mork and Mindy are pleasing people. Sounds like you're tempted to do NaNo though... go on, try it, push yourself into a mentally fraught state, go on.

I loved Mork and Mindy! :)

The book I'm having published is not actually from Nanowrimo last year - I wrote it during 2008 as part of my MFA. The book I've just finished was the one I began in Nano last year. :) So I can't claim to be publishing a Nano novel just yet.

Writing the official Nano list up now!

Oh no! Sorry, Andrea, here I am spreading literary untruths about you!

But it's like half true, well in fact if you just look at the two main elements of it - you're having a book published, you've done NaNo before - they're both true, just not as connected as I proclaimed them to be.

I'm heading over to see the list now... excited!
