MORE EXTRACTS FROM A TERRIBLE LOVE STORY: Quotes From My Teenage Diaries Part 15

Remember the story of Carl and ME, which I wrote in my special 'Love and Boys' diary when I was 13 and desperate for a boyfriend?
Well the scene I shared last time with my pleading and yelling eyes / irises / retinas etc did, of course, result in a kiss and that's included below.
SPOILER: It's all a bit vom-inducing.

“I’m Carl, good to meet you.”
By now we were talking through the fence and we were quite close.
“Yeah, good to meet you too, Carl. Are you staying for long?” I asked, hoping he would say ‘Forever’.

His eyes almost pleaded when he looked at mine. Pleaded for my company, my soul even. The next few months were going to be the best.

We chatted all the way to the beach, about America, our families and ourselves. He was an only child, raised in Florida in a large house.

We settled down and began to eat a sandwich.
“So, how do you like England so far, Carl?”
“Well, I like it! I’ve been here for two days now and already I met a friend.”
“Oh who’s that?” I teased, knowing it was me.
“Well, it’s you of course, Teresa.”
Wow, he was my friend - hopefully something more very soon. A silence seemed to sweep over us for a few minutes while I thought about him being more than a friend.

His eyes looked deep into mine, past the iris, the nerves and the retina, deep, deep into my soul. He knew what I was thinking.
He sat up and looked in front.
I sat up too.
He looked at me once again. This time with an uncertainty. Shall I kiss her? That was his question in his mind.
Yes, do, please! I yelled at him from my eyes.
We got closer as our eyes closed and as our lips met, so gently that I hardly felt it. He kissed me again, this time with more meaning, more passion. I put my hand on the back of his neck and pulled his head closer to mine, now kissing so hard it almost hurt. Then he pulled away. His eyes showed warmth but a touch of uncertainty once again.
“Teresa, did you want that as much as I did?” he asked.
“Yes, Carl, yes I did.”

He led me to the coconut shack and had a go at winning me a teddy. He missed his first two goes but on his third he succeeded. The man handed him a teddy and Carl gave it to me. We walked away and he said, “That gift is my heart and I just gave it to you. Keep it close to yours, treat it with respect and never break it.”

What time do you have to be home?”
“5.30 for my tea, what about you?”

The End.
